David Allen served was a QMSgt in Captain Schuyler Lowe's Company (Jackson Battery), Missouri Artillery, CSA in the Civil War. He enlisted on 27 February 1862 and was captured and paroled at Vicksburg, Mississippi, in July 1863. After the unit was exchanged in September 1863, they continued to fight to the war's end, surrendering in May 1865, subsequently paroled in Meridian, Mississippi.
